Welcome to Art With Jai Studio, a creative art studio based in St. John’s, Newfoundland & Labrador! Here, young artists are encouraged to create, explore, and learn about art. From weekly art lessons for kids, art parties, and events, to original artwork, prints, and handmade crafts by Jai, there is something creative here for everyone to enjoy!
Meet the Artist / Art Instructor
Jailen 'Jai' Spurrell (she/her) is an artist and art instructor based in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. Her artwork is inspired by nature, vibrant colours, and strong sense of community in NL.
Jailen’s love of art began in early childhood while growing up in Labrador West, where she could often be found working on a creative project. With the support of her family, she attended art lessons, camps, and classes with local artists, helping nurture her passion for creativity and art.
In 2014, one of Jailen’s paintings was selected for display in the Arts & Letters Awards Exhibit at The Rooms, and in 2015, she received a community Teen Talent Award for her art portfolio. She later completed a Diploma in Community Support Work at Robertson College in 2021, with the goal of combining creativity and community support to help others experience the benefits of artistic expression.
She is pursuing undergraduate studies at Memorial University with the goal of becoming a Primary/Elementary teacher in NL, and currently holds the title of Miss Personality Atlantic Provinces 2026.
Jailen began teaching private art lessons for youth in Labrador West in 2018. Since then, she has led after school programs, summer camps, community workshops, rehabilitative art sessions, and classes for artists of all ages and abilities. Through her teaching, she strives to create a welcoming and supportive environment where students can explore their creativity, build confidence, and experience the joy and sense of accomplishment that comes from making art.
