then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced"

Meet the Art Instructor
Jailen Spurrell, (she/her) is an artist and art instructor in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. Her love of art began in early childhood, where she could always be found working on a creative project; and with the support of her parents, enjoyed private art lessons, camps, and classes.
In 2014, her painting was selected for display in the Arts & Letters Awards Exhibit at The Rooms, and in 2015, she was awarded a community Teen Talent award for her art portfolio. In 2021, she completed a Diploma in Community Support Work at Robertson College, with the goal of using her creative skillset to support community well-being. Jai has always been excited to share her love of art with others and enjoys helping people experience the joy, calm, and sense of accomplishment that art can bring.
In January 2018, she first began teaching private lessons for youth in the communities of Labrador West. Since then, she has led after-school programs, summer camps, rehabilitative sessions, and classes for artists of all ages and abilities. She is excited to welcome new and returning art students, providing a supportive and calm creative learning experience for all.
